THE FUTURE OF TEACHING IS ALREADY IN SESSION.

Fabien McGill ’16 is a living testament to The Promise of Charleston. After serving as founding principal for the Willie Jeffries School of Excellence, he is taking his expertise working in historically underserved regions to lead the opening of another charter school.

At the College, McGill seemingly did it all, honing his leadership and inclusivity skills through participation in Call Me MISTER, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Leadership CofC. He also served as a campus tour guide, orientation intern, peer educator, librarian and recruiter. Perhaps, most importantly, McGill participated in the Teacher Leader program, where he strengthened his network in the education field and improved his leadership and teaching abilities through workshops and substitute teaching in local Charleston schools.

McGill’s career reflects his experiences at the College. With his unique blend of instructional excellence, visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to equity and community transformation, McGill’s dedication to his students serves as a testament to The Promise of Charleston and all that is possible with a degree in education.
