WHERE TALENT BECOMES IMPACT
Breakthrough research, innovative teaching and exceptional graduate students are central to the College of Charleston’s future. The Graduate School prepares the next generation of scholars, researchers and professionals through rigorous academic programs, transformative research experiences and close mentorship from expert faculty.
For Kayla Blanchard ’26 (M.A.), graduate education has provided the opportunity to combine archival research, digital storytelling and public history to bring overlooked Lowcountry stories to new audiences. Through her work with the Lowcountry Digital History Initiative and the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture, she demonstrates how graduate students contribute new knowledge while creating meaningful impact beyond the classroom.
As the College seeks to elevate its research profile and national reputation, strategic philanthropic investment will help attract exceptionally talented students like Blanchard, strengthen graduate teaching and mentorship, and expand research and innovation across disciplines. Together, these investments will accelerate discovery, increase competitiveness for external funding and prepare graduates to lead in an increasingly complex world.
