Office of Community Engagement
Office of Community Engagement providing students opportunities.
College of Charleston and Charleston itself are one in the same. While our brick pathways physically connect us to our community seamlessly, our office works behind the scenes to provide opportunities for local students to get exposure to the College and for our current students to engage with, learn from and serve Charleston and the surrounding Lowcountry.
EXPAND YOUTH/PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAMS
Local K-12 student programming creates a sense of community with our campus and serves as a pipeline to opportunities at the College. Funding will support field trip grants, management positions and expanded programming, such as summer programs, Saturday academies and signature school visit days.
ADVANCE THE 1967 LEGACY PROGRAM
The 1967 Legacy Program is a four-year scholarship program immersed in African American history and Gullah Geechee culture that develops leaders who use the past as inspiration and education for shaping the future. Funding will support a full-time director, experiential learning, scholarships and expanded programming.
Vice President, Office of Community Engagement
“We are developing a stronger Charleston by creating more opportunities for local children to get exposure to the education and programming we offer, and more pathways to all that the city has to offer our existing college students.”
